@NYCMayor @GetSpectrum is particularly bad about not allowing new yorkers to cancel their services. Forcing them to call or wait in store for hours on end to be able to end service. No ability to cancel on their website.

What’s up with y’all’s Internet, @Ask_Spectrum? Seriously. My Spectrum Business Internet and phones have been down since yesterday. I can’t keep a stable connection under any kind of load. My business is losing money because of this outage. If Spectrum doesn’t compensate us, I’m switching to AT&T or ???. To anyone considering Spectrum: don’t. Save your sanity and your money.

@Ask_Spectrum I discovered that my Internet has gone up $10 a month. The representative said it’s due to the cost of doing business in 2026, a 140 dollar increase a year. I have been a customer for 15 years & sadly will be switching (which includes moving my wireless service)

Continental Telephone Spectrum outages — local patterns

Charter Spectrum's Continental Telephone, VA footprint is part of a larger Virginia plant built on a mix of aerial and underground plant across the Spectrum footprint. The most frequent outage drivers here are severe weather, planned overnight node maintenance, backbone fiber cuts from construction, and utility power events that take amplifiers offline. When report volume rises across neighborhoods such as central, the live console usually lights up before Spectrum's own status tools catch every local node. Watch ZIP codes like 22120 for the earliest neighborhood spikes.

How to check Spectrum outages in Continental Telephone

Confirm whether Spectrum is down in Continental Telephone in under 5 minutes.

  1. 1. Check the live Continental Telephone map

Look at the live status on this page. Report volume above the baseline for Continental Telephone means an active outage.

  2. 2. Verify with your ZIP

Enter your ZIP to see localized report volume across Continental Telephone instead of the broader total.

  3. 3. Rule out your equipment

Only reboot your modem (unplug 60 seconds) if the map is quiet. If reports are spiking, the issue is upstream and a reboot won't help.

  4. 4. Report your outage

Submit a report so other Continental Telephone customers can confirm they're not alone.

  5. 5. Request a bill credit

If the outage lasts more than a couple of hours, contact Spectrum with the start time and your service address to request a prorated credit.

Spectrum not working in Continental Telephone? Troubleshoot it in order

Separate a local Continental Telephone Spectrum fault from a problem inside your own home.

  1. 1. No internet at all, modem online light off or blinking

Check the live Continental Telephone status first. If reports are climbing, the issue is Spectrum's plant — a reboot cannot fix it, so log a report and wait for restoration.

  2. 2. Internet is connected but nothing loads

Compare against the map: quiet map in Continental Telephone means power-cycle the modem for 60 seconds and let it re-sync for 2–3 minutes; busy map means the fault is on Spectrum's side.

  3. 3. WiFi works, but only some devices lose service

Router-side issue local to your home, not a network outage. Reboot the router only (not the modem), reconnect on the 5 GHz SSID, then re-test. Flat Continental Telephone reports confirm it is inside your home.

  4. 4. TV or cable box out, internet fine

A video-tier fault scoped to the Continental Telephone headend rather than the data plant. If TV report volume is spiking on its own, no equipment reset is needed.

  5. 5. Service drops repeatedly for a few minutes at a time

Intermittent ingress on plant is common during storms. Log each drop with timestamps from this page, then request a line technician referencing the Continental Telephone report pattern.

  6. 6. Whole street is out and utility power is also down

Grid event — Spectrum amplifiers draw power from the same feeders. Spectrum service in Continental Telephone typically returns shortly after grid power is back. This is usually a local plant issue, not your modem.

The outage information on this page is based on user reports and local service indicators.
